Create a process simulation object
![]()
In this version of FASTSUITE Edition 2 the process simulation object (PSO) environment supports only the creation of surface type PSO.
Select & search mode
To create a surface type PSO, the first step is to set the selection criteria. It defines what geometry will be searched for when picking a face of the workpiece.
In the 3D View the Pie menu has to be opened.
There are four search cases possible.
| Search | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Process geometry | A filter is set that enables to only select process geometry. | |
| Face | Single faces can be selected. | |
| Body | When picking a face, the search will look for its parent body which then becomes the selection. | |
| Workpiece | When picking a face, the search will look for the complete workpiece behind that face which then becomes the selection. |
Aside from this search mode, the selection still supports multiple picking with use of the Ctrl key or the trap capabilities.
Create surface type PSO
When the face(s) or process geometry has been selected, the Pie menu has to be opened to generate the PSO on the selection.
When the command is executed, the PSO will be computed according the default settings. These settings can be defined in the PSO dashboard.
It is recommended to verify the default creation settings prior to executing the command.
A mesh based PSO is then created. Hovering over the object will show its mesh details.
When selecting multiple faces, bodies or the workpiece, just one single PSO element will be generated for the selection. The mesh generator however does take into account the internal edges of the selection. In contradiction to this: when selecting multiple process geometry, the mesh generator will create a new PSO element for each process geometry separately.
