Compose

The Move components command does not execute a direct function when it is started.

The command enables a quick and easy drag and drop functionality of components within the active layout.

Position of components

Geometrical components are grabbed with the left mouse button and can be dragged to another position in the 3D world when releasing the mouse button. The orientation does not change. In any 3D display the components are dragged in the XY plane. In any Iso view, activated at the View Compass, dragging the components is done in the normal plane to this Iso view.

To enable the dragging onto predefined positions in the global XY plane, the layout grid can be used.

When pressing the key while dragging the component, the layout grid will be displayed and the component will be released on to the nearest grid point. This grid can also be activated permanently, i.e. shown on screen, in the Display Filter dashboard.

When a component is grabbed, the move Manipulator is displayed automatically to support the drag operation.

To move a sub-layout within its parent, the root frame of that sub-layout can be selected. The move Manipulator appears on that frame to re-position the complete sub-layout.

Only components or sub-layouts of the active layout can be moved like this.

Connection between components

The drag and drop functionality can also be used to create connections. Mechanical connections between resources are established when while dragging the system finds a matching connection between mechanical adapters, indicated with a connection beam. Electrical connections can be established by picking an electrical adapter and dropping it onto a matching electrical adapter at the receiving component.

While hovering over a component (resource, controller or workpiece) an edit component Pie menu can be opened.

And while hovering over an adapter of a component an edit adapter Pie menu can be opened.
