Process geometry
Process geometry
Process Geometry is an attribute, referring to the geometry of the workpiece, that is used to create controller programs for manufacturing processes that are applied onto the geometry. Generating this process geometry is mandatory to be able to create such manufacturing program. When the (whole) workpiece is used for transportation and other material handling processes, the creation of process geometry is not necessary.
FASTSUITE Edition 2 supports three types of process geometries that can be directly subtracted from the workpiece geometry:
-
point based
-
contour based
-
surface based.
A special function supports the creation of 2-dimensional regular and primitive shapes subtracted from the workpiece, such as circles and rectangles.
Furthermore an import function is available to read this information directly from external data and to convert that information into process geometry objects.
Process geometry can be created or edited in the Workpiece Preparation and Offline programming workbench.
