Surface based process geometry

Command
With the Surface process geometry command, this type of process geometry can be created and edited.
Create
There are three selection modes available. The mode defines what geometrical object will be searched for when picking a face of the workpiece.
| Workpiece When picking a face, the search will look for the complete workpiece behind that face which then becomes the selection. | ![]() | |

Nevertheless, the Body and Face selection modes do support multiple selection with use of the Ctrl-key or the trap selection and de-selection. It is even possible to switch the selection mode during the process of defining the wanted surfaces.
After the selection has been completed, the only thing to do is to confirm it and the surface process geometry is generated.

Even when the selection consists of multiple domains of non-adjacent surfaces, the result will be one single process geometry object

The surface search engine uses the following parameters:
| Max. boundary distance | Adjacent surfaces are merged when the gap between the edges is smaller than the defined distance value. ![]() |
Create via pie menu
After a selection has been done, an alternative route is to open the pie menu.
Edit
When picking the process geometry, an arrow in the center of the surface bounding box indicates the front (and back) side of the process geometry. A double click on that arrow will invert its direction.
Alternatively, a pie menu can be called on the arrow itself, including a command button to invert the direction.
On the process geometry object itself a pie menu can be opened to edit the PG object.
After changes have been made with the Edit command, the pie menu has to be called to update the process geometry.
