Technology package
Technology packages enhance and configure the FASTSUITE Edition 2 Offline Programming application to cover and support different manufacturing technologies to allow programming with a maximum comfort and reliability.
To generate a highly optimized program for each technology, a technology specific template package is used to create a program and its operations.
A technology package is built of:

Process geometry templates: type of targets and their definition, events.

Program template: global parameters for the program, defaults for global approach, retract and the linking path between operations.

Operation templates: parameters for the operation, defaults for the operation approach, retract and the linking path between sub-operations.

Sub-operation templates: rules to create sub-operations from process geometries, defaults for the sub-operation approach and retract paths.

Event templates: action on discrete location or section of a path to set commands and / or to modify the path.

Downloader: translator to create the controller program on top of the toolpath.

Uploader (optional): translator to create an OLP structure on top of the controller program (reverse engineering).
To enhance the FASTSUITE technology packages with a new technology, the base templates can be customized using Python scripting to implement technology specifics for parameters, cycles, approach,
retract, links and events. Also an existing technology package can be extended with controller specifics using a similar mechanism. These extensions are linked to the controller. Changing the controller, the non extended FASTSUITE technology package, respectively another extension, will be used to recompute the tool path.
For the most common manufacturing technologies an OLP technology package is provided. Also extended controllers are available to enhance the packages to support different suppliers.
