Optimize Cutting Path and Parameters

Purpose

Refine cutting path behavior and process parameters in FASTSUITE Edition 2 to improve stability, quality, and production efficiency.

Steps

  1. Optimize program structure

Review the generated operation sequence and group structure, then reorganize the program where needed to improve clarity and execution flow.

  1. Tune relevant cutting parameters according to part and process requirements

Adjust the applicable technology and interpolation settings to improve cut quality and process stability for the current part.
▶ Watch the demo video

  1. Optimize operation link transitions to improve process flow

Refine the link movements between operations so the transitions remain efficient, collision-safe, and suitable for production.
▶ Watch the demo video

  1. Automatically optimize the operation link transitions where collision incidents or accessibility issues were detected.

Refine the link movements between operations automatically based on collision and accessibility analysis.
▶ Watch the demo video

  1. Automatically optimize toolpath segments where collision incidents were detected.

Improve the affected toolpath segments based on the quality and accessibility findings from simulation and analysis. In this step the collision check must exclude the clamps, which are handled in a separate step.

  1. Check collisions between the laser head and the clamps

Create collision check for the laser head and clamps during simulation.
▶ Watch the demo video

  1. Add clamp-open events

Define the event that opens the clamp when the laser head approaches the critical region, then verify the result in simulation.
▶ Watch clamp-open demo

  1. Add clamp-close events

Add the event that closes the clamp again after passing the critical region, then verify the result in simulation.
▶ Watch clamp-close demo

  1. Manually optimize toolpath segments to reduce the machine head movements

Use the interpolation tools to manually adjust the toolpath segments to reduce unnecessary machine head movements.
▶ Watch the demo video

  1. Automatically optimize toolpath segments to reduce the machine head movements

Use the automatic process optimization to automatically adjust the toolpath segments to reduce unnecessary machine head movements.

Output

An optimized cutting process with improved path quality and validated parameter settings.
